Ubi-Camera Concept by IAMAS is a prototype that the design team hopes to improve by making wireless, and by improving the facial recognition sensor which currently occasionally malfunctions as a result of poor lighting conditions. The tiny camera fits onto one index finger, while the shutter is tripped with the thumb of the other hand as it completes the framing rectangle. Via infrared sensors, the device actually registers its distance from the user’s face, and calculates the image frame accordingly. Zooming is accomplished in the way it always has been for ‘finger framing’: by moving one’s hands closer or further away from one’s face.

Lifeguards can only move so fast in water. And tossing a struggling swimmer a life preserver may mean the difference between life and death, but few if any lifeguards are Olympic-champion discus tossers, so it helps to have an alternate way to get that preserver there. Ryptide, a soon-to-be-Kickstartered project from drone hobbyist Bill Pierda, wants to attach a life preserver kit to the bottom of off-the-shelf drones.

The immediate point of comparison is the Iranian-designed Pars drone, a life preserver drone concept now in development in the United Kingdom. Pars is a drone specially built for the lifeguard task. Ryptide, instead, turns commercially available drones, in this case those of the DJI Phantom variety, into makeshift rescuers. The kit attaches beneath the drone to drop the life-saving rings down to struggling swimmers. The rings for the Ryptide are water-activated, so they’ll inflate when dropped but be compact in the air.

 

The crowdfunding campaign will kick of this month. If it's successful, the Ryptide project could turn a hobbyist toy into a lifeguard's best friend, provided there’s an extra pilot around to send the drone into action.

Language of the style is always the same but we can say that this yacht is especially for the special “nights”… because Allochroous Yacht has been designed for special concerts. Well, actually this yacht is not only for concerts but also for VIP movie premiers, exhibitions, important events or boutique theatre presentations. So we can say that this project will be for someone who is a member of such a high class society. People from these kind of Elite groups will attend prestigious events which will be held on this yacht. All expenses can be paid by sponsors or financers of the events or depending on the situation, guests can come to listen live music which is just organized for a few people.

If we have to talk about technical details a bit, Allochroous Yacht is 40-meters long and has threeparts under the hull which two of them are floating and one which is on the back by itself with motor. When the yacht is on the move, the two twin arms under the body are open and provide floatation mechanism for the boat. If the boat has to stop which it happens when someone has to get into the yacht; the arms move toward each other and become almost in closed position. At this point they create more weight and make the yacht goes down slowly. When it goes down, access to the yacht becomes easy with automatic folding stairs.

The Biomorphic House is facing the Mediterranean Sea from its 1000-meters high, the panoramic bay windows have been shaped like amazing sunglasses overlooking the sea.

The Nurbs-like glazing surfaces provide ideal support for mounting the brand new kinds of transparent Photovoltaic-cells. The electricity produced by such an area of PV-Cells units is to be converted in Hydrogen (through a self powered water electrolyze process) and compressed into containers for a later use. This zero-emission pilot-project includes the development of a Hydrogen powered PEM-Fuel-Cell generator, providing electricity while the only “emissions” are reusable heat and pure water.

Do rechargeable lithium-ion batteries exists in standard sizes like AA, AAA, C or D?

No, they don’t. According to Isidor Buchmann, author of Batteries in a Portable World: A Handbook on Rechargeable Batteries for Non-Engineers, this is due to safety concerns — people might try to charge them in chargers made for other AA batteries, where they might explode. Also, because Li-ion batteries operate 3.7V per cell, rather than the 1.2 to 1.5V of most cell batteries, designing a 1.5V lithium-ion cell would be expensive.

However, you can find good rechargeable AA Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, which perform very well. For more information, see my article on The Best Rechargeable Batteries Of 2012.

There are also some lithium-ion rechargeable batteries made for high-performance flashlights and cameras, in these sizes:  18650 and CR123.

A single 18650 battery can replace two CR123A batteries, although at a lower voltage (but much higher amperage). However, the 18650 is a wider cell and will not fit into a flashlight that is designed strictly for the narrower CR123As. Most modern tactical LED lights are designed to use a single 18650 or two CR123As, but it’s best to check before buying. See our article on The Best 18650 Batteries for more information.

There are also numerous other types of lithium-ion batteries made for specific laptops and other electronics gadgets. There is currently no standard size for these lithium-ion cells.

And the Spaceport America could be just the first in a series of other similar infra-structures, should the investment in the space industry prove to be right. Behind this initiative is Virgin Galactic, belonging to multimillionaire Richard Branson, who invested 300 million dollars in the project.

The contest for the Spaceport America building was won by renowned British firm Foster+partners, which has been distinguished for the creation of bold and cutting-edge projects, especially airports. Featuring a body finished in lightweight fabric/objects, the new airship doesn’t need a runway, which makes it a very practical means of delivery and pickup of cargo and passengers from remote locationsaround the world. Presenting an aerodynamic design to ensure better speed and performance, the GTO offers a safe and sustainable flight than any passenger jet.

Whenever we think of space endeavors, organizations such as NASA, European Space Agency or even ISRO crop up in our heads. But a private British aerospace company – Reaction Engines Limited (REL) is all set to rather develop a more inclusive system of space traveling, with their Skylon spaceplane concept.

The Skylon concept will be a single stage to orbit combined cycle powered orbital spaceplane. A single stage to orbit (SSTO) vehicle reaches orbit from the surface of a body without jettisoning hardware, in the process expending only propellants and fluids. That means the Skylon will not use booster rockets of any kind (though SSTO vehiclesstill remain in conceptual stages).

And here comes the part about fuel efficiency that interests us – if the researchers can work it out, the cost of launching a payload to geostationary orbit would be fifteen times cheaper than it is now! The concept will be using the company’s own SABRE engine (Synergistic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine), and according to European Space Agency:

“ESA has not identified any critical topics that would prevent a successful development of the engine.”

Again it should be duly noted that the SABRE is also at its conceptual stage (though a engine derivative has already being designed for a passenger jet). The system basically calls for a hypersonic precooled hybrid air breathing rocket engine for launching the proposed Skylon into low Earth orbit (LEO). The precooling mechanism cools the hot, ram compressed air, in effect creating a high pressure ratio within the engine. The compressed air is further fed to the combustion chamber, to be ignited with liquid hydrogen, while the high pressure ratio provides the high thrust at very high speeds and altitudes.

In futures, trams for the public mobility will differ considerably to those currently run in our town. Here is on one concept that reveals how they will look like. This tram is a futuristic vehicle envisioned by Andrew and is designed with populous cites of Japan in mind.

Andrew’s concept is dubbed ‘Future Tram’ and won’t be controlled by a driver sitting inside, but by the host computer that nullifies the use of lights. However, for its visibility in the dark there is blue bar under the roof, and lights inside the cabin.

This tram has two doors and one of the doors has slope that allows the physically challenged people to get inside and out comfortably and safely. Also, the tram roof has 4 powerful racks and the brain of the machine.

The tram also has spare batteries that fulfill the needs of electricity in the difficult times. This tram can best be used for sightseeing transportation as well as a usual route bus, which would have brought people to work and back to home, but that would surely ask to build many new roads.
